The gap it fixes
k6 (JetBrains Marketplace id 16141), 81,065 downloads, freemium with a real paid license tier, vendor Mikhail Bolotov. Real, verbatim reviewer complaints (5 independent reviewers over ~2 years):
- "it doesn't respect Macros (despite allowing macros to be used)... configuration errors saying the file does not exist" (2024-05-28)
- "Does not work with WSL at all... caused severe performance issues... right click a file/directory... would freeze phpstorm for a few seconds" (2023-10-02)
- "the terminal output for the 'animated progress bar' has been an issue for 2 years... [there have been] no updates on this project for 2 years, [this plugin] is dead" (2023-09-20) -- stale as of 2026-09-24: the vendor has since shipped 5+ releases (2025-07 through 2026-07, most recently platform-2026.2 support), so "dead" no longer holds. Kept here only as the origin of the progress-bar complaint, which this plugin still fixes differently (see below).
- "it only supports debugging javascript" despite advertising TypeScript debugging support (2025-05) -- re-verified 2026-09-24, still current: the same complaint is the plugin's most recent review on file.

All Testing pluginsIntelliJ-family plugin (IntelliJ IDEA, Android Studio, and any IntelliJ-based IDE that bundles the Java and Kotlin plugins). Generates a real, compiling JUnit test skeleton for a Java or Kotlin class: one empty test method per public method, with your project's own test framework detected and imported correctly.
Gutter warning icon on any Java/Kotlin test method annotated @Disabled (JUnit 5) or @Ignore (JUnit 4) with no reason given, or whose reason names a YYYY-MM-DD revisit date that has already passed. Skipped tests are easy to forget about entirely: without a reason, future readers have no context for why it's disabled; with a stale date, it's a real signal the test is overdue for a second look
