Gap Hunter Labs

Privacy Policy

What this site collects, what it doesn’t, and why the answer is short.

The short version

This site has no accounts, no payment processing, and no cookies. The only data collected about visitors is anonymous, aggregate traffic counts from a cookie-free analytics service. The contact forms on this site don’t submit anywhere: they open a pre-filled GitHub issue or a pre-filled email for you to send yourself. The sections below explain what that means in practice.

Analytics

This site uses GoatCounter, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count visits. GoatCounter does not use cookies or any persistent identifier, and does not track individual visitors across sessions or sites. It records aggregate figures (page views, referring site, browser/device class, and country-level location derived from IP address) without storing the IP address itself. You cannot be individually identified from this data, not even by the operator of this site.

No other analytics, advertising, or tracking service runs on this site. There is no retargeting, no ad network, and no cross-site tracking pixel of any kind.

Cookies and local storage

This site does not set cookies and does not use browser storage for tracking or identification. The only thing it stores on your device is your color theme choice (System, Light or Dark), kept in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

The contact form

The forms on the Contact page have no backend, so submitting one never sends data anywhere on its own. “Submit a gap” and “Report a plugin” open a pre-filled GitHub “new issue” page in a new tab. What you typed only arrives if you then submit that issue on GitHub, at which point it becomes a public GitHub issue on a public repository, subject to GitHub’s own privacy policy and terms, and attributed to your GitHub account if you’re signed in.

“Work with Joel” and “Partnership” open a pre-filled email in your own mail app, addressed to gaphunterlabs@gmail.com. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself, and it stays private between you and Gap Hunter Labs. If your mail app doesn’t open, the page shows the prepared message so you can copy it; that text stays in your browser.

If you’d rather not have your submission be public, email gaphunterlabs@gmail.com directly instead.

Third-party links

This site links out to JetBrains Marketplace, the VS Code Marketplace, and GitHub repositories for plugin installs, downloads, and source code. Once you leave gaphunterlabs.github.io, that platform’s own privacy policy applies, and this site has no visibility into or control over what those platforms collect.

What is never collected or published

  • No accounts, no sign-up, no passwords.
  • No payment or billing information. Plugin purchases happen entirely on JetBrains’ or Microsoft’s own marketplaces, never on this site.
  • No sale, rental, or sharing of any data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. There is essentially nothing collected that could be sold in the first place.

Your rights

This site is operated from Colombia by an individual, not a registered company. Colombian data protection law (Ley 1581 de 2012, “Habeas Data”) gives you the right to know, update, rectify, and request deletion of personal data held about you. In practice this site holds no personal data tied to an identifiable visitor: the analytics above are aggregate and anonymous, and no other personal data is collected unless you choose to send an email or submit a GitHub issue yourself. If you believe that’s not the case for something specific, use the contact details below and it will be addressed directly.

Children’s privacy

This site is a developer-tooling catalog and is not directed at children. As described above, it does not knowingly collect data from anyone of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change accordingly.
